Reverend Julius Cheeks
  
  

Reverend Julius Cheeks was born in Spartanburg, SC. He was a very unique and powerful singer. Reverend Cheeks was a member of a local gospel group called The Baronets. In 1946 he joined The Nightingales (now known as the Sensational Nightingales). He was, for a very brief time, a member of The Soul Stirrers. He rejoined the Nightingales during the early 1950s. In 1954, he became a minister. He remained a performer. He was a gifted writer and arranger. The last group he performed with was The Sensational Knights. Reverend Cheeks died in Miami on January 27, 1981. Reverend Cheeks is buried in his home state, South Carolina.
